AVALANCHE SAFETY

There can be big differences in training and experience between  avalanche education providers!

Avalanche Canada licenses the Avalanche Safety Training (AST) curriculum to both Active or Professional Members of the Canadian Avalanche Association.  Active Members are essentially apprentices. They are bound to much tighter restrictions while teaching courses and are limited in the terrain that they can take students. Professional members on the other hand are employed in the avalanche industry full time and have to maintain a very high standard for Continuing Professional Development.

Our instructors are all Avalanche Professionals who work full time in the mountains as backcountry ski guides or avalanche forecasters. On our courses you get the most advanced knowledge available as well as practical tips and tricks to help you make safe decisions in avalanche terrain.  Our team is passionate about helping people play safely in the mountains no matter how you choose to do it.

AVALANCHE SAFETY TRAINING - LEVEL 1
Our intensive 2-day Avalanche Safety Training (AST) Level 1 course is suitable for people with no formal avalanche training or for people who are looking to brush up on their skills.
AVALANCHE SAFETY TRAINING - LEVEL 2
Our intensive 4 day AST 2 course is designed to meet the needs of experienced skiers and split boarders, looking to build upon the essential skills necessary for safe backcountry travel.
